Why have you decided to reduce charity entries for 2022?
Charities used only 59 per cent of the places available to them in the 2021 event (the lowest fill rate in its 41-year history) leading to an unprecedented number of rollover places. This, combined with charity places rolled over to 2022 from the cancelled 2020 mass event, means we have had to review all entry types for 2022 to ensure the event does not exceed its new maximum capacity of 50,000 finishers. As a result, we are taking a number of steps to reduce the number of entries for the 2022 and 2023 TCS London Marathons. These steps have been carefully thought through, looking at not only the charity market but also other entry categories.
