Join Team Autism for its most extraordinary year yet

January 2022 marked the National Autistic Society’s 60th birthday! It’s been an extraordinary 60 years, and with your help we can make the next 60 years even more extraordinary. Our 2022 TCS London Marathon team is our biggest yet, and we can’t wait to take on the challenge.

Why join Team Autism?

By signing up, you will be joining a team that is committed to making a real change to the lives of autistic people and their families. As part of Team Autism, you’ll get:

  • a free National Autistic Society branded running vest
  • an invitation to a ‘pasta party’ the day before the marathon, where you can meet many of your fellow runners while doing the essential carb-loading (on us!)
  • continued and dedicated fundraising and training support from our fundraising team
  • a vibrant and eye-catching cheer point, where all your family and friends are welcome to come and cheer you on!

When you finish the Marathon, our team will be there to meet you and take you to our phenomenal five-star post-race reception – with access to hot food, massages, showers and space to celebrate with your family and friends. The money you raise will help us in our mission to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people.

We transform lives by providing support, information and practical advice for the 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK, as well as their three million family members and carers. Since 1962, autistic people have turned to us at key moments or challenging times in their lives, be it getting a diagnosis, going to school or finding work.

We change attitudes by improving public understanding of autism and the difficulties many autistic people face. We also work closely with businesses, local authorities and the Government to help them provide more autism-friendly spaces, deliver better services and improve laws.

We have come a long way, but it is not good enough. There is still much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

As Simon, a Team Autism runner at the 2021 London Marathon, says: “For anyone making this their first marathon, first, congratulations on choosing what I consider to be the best marathon in the world! Secondly, remember you will never be alone, as you will have Team Autism behind you throughout this incredible journey.”
