Ama took on the 2021 London Marathon as part of #TeamNSPCC, raising vital funds to help keep children safe. We spoke with Ama to hear about her London Marathon experience.

“I decided to take up running during the first lockdown, having never run before. I was so proud of myself the first time I ran a kilometre – so I decided to go the whole hog and run the London Marathon!

“It was an obvious choice for me to run for the NSPCC. So many people, especially friends that I haven't spoken to for so long, saw on social media that I was running the London Marathon for the NSPCC and came forward with really generous donations.

“The support I've received from #TeamNSPCC has been amazing – it made me feel like a celebrity! Everything was so personal. I met a lot of the staff before the event at their head office and at the London Marathon Running Show, as well as on Event Day itself. Seeing the NSPCC flag in the distance and hearing the support as I went past the cheer stations spurred me on to keep running.

It is the most iconic marathon in the world, and I think anyone who trains hard enough can do it! The sense of accomplishment you get as you cross the Finish Line is one you’ll never forget – and you can experience all this while raising money for a great charity like the NSPCC.”
