Virtual TCS London Marathon FAQs

• How can I enter the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon?
  General entries for the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon will open on Tuesday 22 March.
• When does the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon take place?
  Between 00:00 and 23:59:59 (BST) on Sunday 2 October 2022.
• How many places are available?
  40,000 places are available in the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon.
• How much does a place cost?
  Entry is £28 for UK residents and £35 for international participants. The additional £7 for international entrants is for postage and packaging and covers the costs of two mailings – one pre-event, which consists of two bib numbers to wear on Marathon Day, and one post-event, which consists of the TCS London Marathon finisher’s T-shirt and medal.
  
  Please note that some countries require payment of an additional customs fee on delivery of the finisher medal and T-shirt.
  
• Why is the international entry fee for the virtual TCS London Marathon £7 more than the UK entry fee?

• Will I get a finisher's medal and T-shirt for taking part in the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon?
  Yes, the official 2022 TCS London Marathon finisher’s T-shirt and medal will be posted to all official finishers after the event.
• Can I transfer to the virtual TCS London Marathon if I have a mass event place?
  No, it’s not possible to transfer your place.
• Can the virtual 2021 London Marathon be used to qualify for a Good for Age or Championship entry in 2022?
  You may apply for a Good For Age or Championship place in the TCS London Marathon by running the relevant qualifying times in the virtual event. The deadline to apply for a Good For Age place in the 2022 TCS London Marathon was Monday 29 November 2021 and details of how to apply for a Championship place in the 2022 mass event will be available soon.

• Does the virtual event count in the London Classics?
  Yes. Completing the virtual TCS London Marathon counts towards the London Classics.
• Does the virtual event count towards Abbott World Marathon Majors points or a Six Star Finisher medal?

  No. Virtual marathons do not count towards Abbott World Marathon Majors points or a Six Star Finisher medal.

• Do I have to raise money for charity to take part in the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon?
  No. However, we encourage everyone to use their place to raise money for a charity of their choice.
• Do I have to run the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon all in one go? Can I do half in the morning and half in the evening for example?
  So long as you start and finish within the official event period (00:00 to 23:59:59 BST on Sunday 2 October) you can break your virtual marathon down into as many sessions as you like by using the pause functionality on your tracking device. Your official result will be based on your total elapsed time.
  
• Can I do the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon on a treadmill?
  No, you must not use a treadmill or any other stationary running machine and/or equipment to take part in the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon. All participants must complete the 26.2 miles outside.
• If I get a place in the mass 2022 TCS London Marathon, can I also book a place in the virtual 2022 event?
  No. We do not allow multiple entries from the same person in any of our events.
• When will the Official TCS London Marathon App be available?
  The Official TCS London Marathon App will be available in the build-up to the 2022 event.
• If I plan on doing the virtual TCS London Marathon by running around my garden will the Official App track me?
  The Official App is unlikely to work in an average-sized garden – you need to run at least 50 metres before changing direction for the Official App to be able to track you.
