Matt is one of The London Marathon Charitable Trust runners celebrating its 40th anniversary. Matt is a trustee of inclusive sports charity Access Sport, and his marathon place forms the final challenge in the ‘Tri With Access Sport’ series. In June, Matt and a team cycled 330K across the country from the east to west coast, in August he swam 17K in Lake Windemere, and he’s finally finishing the Tri Series with the Virgin Money London Marathon.

Amrit is one of the participants featured in our We Run Together campaign video. After starting his running journey back in 2008, this will be his 10th London Marathon and he has completed the six Abbott World Marathon Majors, earning his Six Star medal

EastEnders star Tanya ran her debut London Marathon in 2019 as part of the Dementia Revolution team, having never ran before she started her training. She’s back this year for her second Virgin Money London Marathon and is continuing raising awareness of Alzheimer’s and fundraising for Alzheimer’s Research UK

Scott is running for Alzheimer’s Research UK in memory of his late wife, Dame Barbara Windsor. He led the 2019 team of runners for Dementia Revolution, who raised more than £3 million

David is the most successful elite athlete in the history of the London Marathon, with an amazing eight victories. Incredibly, 2021 will also be his 22nd consecutive London Marathon since his debut in 2000

Vincent came close to winning the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon on his debut in the event, but was outsprinted in the closing metres by Shura Kitata and had to settle for second place. He’s back this year to take on Kitata again

A former dancer, Esmée was about to start a scholarship at a dance college when complications during a hernia operation resulted in a seizure that left her paralysed. From teaching herself to walk again Esmée has gone on to tackle extreme adventure feats, from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and appearing on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins. She is set to take on her third London Marathon on Sunday

Rajinder Singh, the ‘Skipping Sikh’ was awarded an MBE for his services to health and fitness during the Covid-19 pandemic after raising more than £14,000 for the NHS. He shared videos of himself skipping on social media to encourage others to keep active during lockdown. This will be his first Virgin Money London Marathon and he is raising money for Mencap

Charlotte Purdue is the fourth-fastest British woman ever, thanks to running 2:25:38 to finish 10th and first Brit in the women’s elite race at the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon. Charlotte recently secured her third straight win at The Vitality Big Half, setting a new course record of 69:51

Jonny was the best British marathon runner in 2020, setting a personal best in February at the Seville Marathon and following that up by winning his first British Championship when he was the first British man home at the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon in 2:10:38
