4.2 million children in the UK are living in poverty.

Societal inequalities have intensified due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. It has a knock-on effect for a child, from nutrition to education, and emotional development.

Children in the most deprived areas are twice as likely to be obese by the age of five. Tooth decay is two times higher for children in the most deprived areas.

Children living in poverty can experience educational gaps. Families living in the poorest areas are 14 times more likely to be referred to children's social care than those from the richest areas.

Financial stress can leave parents and carers with less time to meet their child's emotional needs.

More than 80% of the NSPCC's income comes from donations. We need your help to reach more children who need us.

Ending child poverty is a huge task. Your donation will help us to work nonstop to:

  • Ensure Childline is here for children 24/7, to listen and provide support.
  • Help local teams work across the UK’s four nations to protect children from abuse and neglect, including easing the stress that poverty can inflict on families.
  • Deliver local projects such as Better Start in Blackpool. This focuses on supporting families to develop the nutrition and emotional development of children under three.
