52,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that's 144 men a day.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in the UK without a screening programme. That's why Prostate Cancer UK is launching a £42 million research programme called the TRANSFORM Trial. It’ll be the biggest prostate cancer trial in 20 years, bringing together the best researchers globally, as well as independent experts, to transform how prostate cancer is diagnosed.
The goal is that one day, all men at risk will be invited for regular tests to find aggressive cancers in time for a cure.
Your donation could help fund groundbreaking research and vital support services such as the Specialist Nurses Helpline. Here's what your money could do:
- £50 could pay for 500 microscope slides for researchers to study the effects of new treatments.
- £350 could pay to store prostate cancer samples for a year, allowing researchers to study the cells for new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
- £600 could pay for a Specialist Nurse to provide support to men and those who love them for three days.
- £1,000 could secure a researcher two years’ access to a fluorescence microscope that can pick out individual cancer cells and show their response to treatments.
