London Marathon joins TikTok, the world’s fastest-growing social media platform
Exactly forty years after the first-ever edition of the event, the Virgin Money London Marathon has today launched its official TikTok account, @LondonMarathon.
The account will tell the stories of our incredible runners, offer exclusive content, challenges and put a new spin on some memorable London Marathon moments.
Penny Dain, Marketing and Communications Director for London Marathon Events, said: “The anniversary of the first London Marathon is the perfect day to launch our new TikTok account and it’s a great opportunity to help bring marathon running to a new and younger audience. With millions of people already engaging with the London Marathon # on TikTok, we can’t wait to show our new followers what we’ve got planned.”
TikTok is one of the most downloaded apps in the world and allows users to create and share short-form videos on any topic directly from their mobile device. It encourages everyone to be a creator and share moments that matter through video, often starting conversations and trends in the process.
With users in 150 countries, the platform will enable the Virgin Money London Marathon to connect with runners and inspire activity in new ways around the world.
