The Ethiopian is a major marathon veteran with an impressive career record. 2020 was arguably his most successful year when he finished on the podium at both the Tokyo Marathon and the Virgin Money London Marathon, coming home in third in both races. He has also finished third (2019) and fourth (2016) in the Berlin Marathon and fourth in the Chicago Marathon (2017), as well as having marathon wins in Warsaw, Vienna, Frankfurt and Ljubljana under his belt.
