Championship applications for the 2022 TCS London Marathon

Applications for Championship entries in the 2022 TCS London Marathon closed at 17:00 on Friday 1 July 2022.

Qualification details

The Championship qualification period for the 2022 TCS London Marathon is 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021.

Your qualifying performance for a marathon or half marathon must have been run at an event with a course certified by UKA, the Association for International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), or a national governing body for distance running for the country in which the event was held.

You must also be registered with your national governing body (England Athletics, Scotland Athletics, Welsh Athletics or Athletics Northern Ireland), otherwise we will not be able to accept your application. If you are unsure whether you’re registered, please check with your national governing body.

Please note that you must have a valid 2022/23 membership. We are aware that England Athletics has a three-month grace period for unpaid memberships, so bear in mind you might be registered now but not in October when the TCS London Marathon is held. Your membership must be valid in October 2022 for your application to be accepted.

You can check your membership status here.

The table below details the Championship qualifying times for the 2022 TCS London Marathon. Please note that all runners in the Championship start zone must wear their club vest.

Using a qualifying time from the virtual 2021 event

You may also apply for a Championship place if you ran the qualifying time (from the table above) in the virtual 2021 London Marathon on Sunday 3 October 2021.

However, if your only qualification time is from the virtual 2021 London Marathon, you’ll also need to submit evidence of an ‘in-person’ half marathon time that meets the qualifying time displayed in the table above.

You must have run this half marathon time during the same qualifying period (1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021) at an event with a certified course.
