Championship applications for the 2022 TCS London Marathon

The Championship qualification period for the 2022 TCS London Marathon is 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021.

When you apply for a Championship entry, we check your membership status with your national athletics governing body (see below). To simplify the process and better align it with the governing bodies’ membership calendars, we are moving the Championship entry application opening date to later in 2022 and entries will open by Tuesday 7 June.

Your qualifying performance for a marathon (or half marathon) must have been run at an event with a course certified by UKA, the Association for International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), or a national governing body for distance running for the country in which the event was held.

You must also be registered with your national governing body (England Athletics, Scotland Athletics, Welsh Athletics or Athletics Northern Ireland), otherwise we will not be able to accept your application. If you are unsure whether or not you are registered, please check with your national governing body.

The table below details the Championship qualifying times for the 2022 TCS London Marathon. Please note that all runners in the Championship start zone must wear their club vest.

Full marathon sub 2:40:00 sub 3:14:00
Half marathon sub 1:12:30 sub 1:28:00

Using a qualifying time from the virtual 2021 event

You may also apply for a Championship place if you ran the qualifying time (from the table above) in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 3 October 2021.

However, if your only qualification time is from the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon, you’ll also need to submit evidence of an ‘in-person’ half marathon time that meets the qualifying time displayed in the table above.

You must have run this half marathon time during the same qualifying period (1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021) at an event with a certified course.
